Since it had been nearly two decades (!) since the preceding numbered Disco album, fandom had long been expecting a Disco 5. Like Disco 4, this collection concentrates on PSB remixes of other artists' tracks, albeit with a few exceptions.
Note: The link below for "Dreamland" will take you to the section for the album Hotspot and, since it's a remake of a PSB classic, the link for "West End Girls" will take you to page for that song in the Please section (there's no separate entry for the Sleaford Mods cover). Please keep this in mind for "navigational" purposes.
- Think of a Number (Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds)
- Hot for You Baby (Tina Turner)
- Queen of Ice (Claptone)
- Let the Music Play (Carroll Thompson)
- Purple Zone (Soft Cell and Pet Shop Boys)
- How Do You Love? (The Hidden Cameras)
- I'm in Love with a German Film Star (Sam Taylor-Johnson)
- Insanely Alive (Wolfgang Tillmans)
- Innocent Money (Primal Scream)
- Dreamland (Pet Shop Boys feat. Olly Alexander)
- Cosmic Fringes (Paul Weller)
- West End Girls (Sleaford Mods)
The Japanese edition of Disco 5, released a few weeks later than the standard edition released elsewhere, adds "Pet Shop Boys Remix" of "Ich Bin Musik," performed by Frances Barber, as a bonus track. It's 30 seconds longer than the "Radio Edit" previously released on Musik.
Like Disco 4 before it, Disco 5 multi-artist format disqualified it from the primary U.K. album chart, but it surpassed its predecessor's standing on the U.K. compilation chart, getting as high as #7. It also reached #14 on the U.K. vinyl albums chart.
